Project Title: The Meat Up Service Training
Tools used in Development: Lectora, Audacity, and Canva
Time in Development: 3 months
Client: The Meat Up Restaurant (granted permission to share)
Executive Summary: This project addressed the need for a more effective Service Training program for employees at The Meat Up restaurant. There was no training in place to bring employees up to the service standards of the restaurant.
Challenge: There is inconsistency in service skills and upselling at The Meat Up restaurant. Servers are not consistently performing service skills or upselling menu items to the standards of the restaurant. There is a need for consistent training for newly hired servers. They need to know the standards of service, how to implement them, and how to upsell. There is a lack of motivation from servers to produce quality service or upsell menu items. The manager is not equipped to train or educate servers.
Solution: To address these challenges, I developed an interactive eLearning module using Lectora. The program demonstrates the service skill standards and quality for the learner. The learner has many opportunities to practice and get feedback as they progress through the scenarios in the course. The end assessment ties all the skills together in a real-world scenario.
Results: This program not only streamlined the onboarding process into a 30 minute course, but also saved the management team valuable time retraining or redirecting servers throughout service. It created a common language for everyone to understand the standards of the restaurant.
